Big wins for USIU-A Men, Nandi Hawks and Twinkle in second KHU League weekend

The second weekend of the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) season saw several teams secure significant victories across various divisions. Among the standout performers were the United States International University-Africa (USIU-A) men's team, Nandi Hawks, and Twinkle Hockey Club.

In the Men's Premier League, USIU-A delivered an impressive 5-1 win against Sikh Union Nairobi on Saturday, August 10, at Dashmesh Hockey Stadium.

Danstone Wabwire netted a brace, while Brian Ogenche, Joseph Baraka and Borris Lukurito added to the tally with one goal apiece.

Sikh Union Nairobi's lone goal came from Kabir Bhamra, as they struggled to match the university side's dominance.

In the Women's Super League, Twinkle Hockey Club emerged as the big winners, securing a comfortable 4-0 victory against league debutants Mwiki Hockey Club.

Berber Atieno opened the scoring in the fourth minute, followed by Sharon Macharia in the ninth minute.

Diana Wekesa and Consolata Matongo added to the score-line in the 47th and 49th minutes, respectively, sealing an emphatic win at Impala Club on Saturday.

The Men's National League also witnessed a dominant performance as Nandi Hawks beat newcomers Kaimosi University 8-0.

Captain Alfred Kiprono led the charge with a hat trick, while Walter Rono scored twice.

Ezra Kiprop, Joab Omukabala and Dickson Siratoi also found the back of the net, ensuring a resounding victory for Nandi Hawks.

In other matches, Women's Premier League side Sliders continued their strong start to the season with a 2-1 win against DFG Wolverines.

On the other hand, Amira Sailors were held to a goalless draw by USIU-A on Saturday. However, USIU-A bounced back on Sunday, securing a narrow 1-0 victory over DFG Wolverines.
